El Sha-Died [Can a higher power save El Shaddai?]

El Shaddai is good for what it is, but it isn’t a single game unto itself. It’s really a series of conjoined mini games, all excellently crafted visually, that are linked together by an old religious story. As a low-cost downloadable pack of mini games you could go back and forth between, El Shaddai would be great. But as a singular narrative game driven by an over-arching story, El Shaddai suffers from multiple personality disorder, a hard to understand irrelevant story, in which not every personality is entertaining to play through. This is a great downloadable, or Game Design Department school final project. But as a completed commercial game, it’s damned to store shelf hell.
